BFAR- Cash and Food Subsidy for Marginal Farmers and Fisherfolk Program

President Rodrigo Duterte signed into law Bayanihan to Recover As One Act on September 11, 2020 which shall provide financial support to government programs aiming to revitalize the country’s economy amidst the pandemic, COVID-19.


Under the Stimulus Package for Agriculture, Six Billion Five Hundred Million (Php 6,500,000,000.00) is allocated for Social Protection and Social Amelioration Projects where the Cash and Food Subsidy for Marginal Farmers and Fisherfolk (CFSMFF) is included. A total of Four Billion Five Hundred Million Pesos (Php 4,500,000,000.00) is allocated to support program implementation of the CFSMFF Program. The CFSMFF aims to provide direct food and financial assistance in the amount of Five Thousand Pesos (Php 5,000.00) to eligible RSBSA-registered beneficiaries from different sectors in Agriculture and Fisheries. An amount of Three Thousand Pesos (Php 3,000.00) shall be given in cash, while Two Thousand Pesos (PhP 2,000.00) is further divided into One THousand Pesos (Php 1,000.00) worth of rice,  Six Hundred Pesos (PhP 600.00) chickens and Four Hundred Pesos (PhP 400.00) eggs shall be provided to the beneficiaries.


The Municipality of Banate currently has a 240 qualified fisherfolk beneficiaries (first batch) and 1 corn farmer beneficiary based on the result of the cross matching/validation on the Municipal Fisherfolk Registration System or FishR and the Registry System for Basic Sector in Agriculture (RSBSA).


The Municipal Agriculture Office headed by Municipal Agriculturist Ms. Ma. Luz M. Ferrer distributed the cash subsidy last December 21-23, 2020 through M Lhuillier Financial Service Center (Banate Branch) while the Food Subsidy was distributed last January 14, 2021 at Banate Municipal Gymnasium together with the Dingle Farmers Cooperative Marketing Association as supplier of Food.
