    In October 1972, President Ferdinand Marcos issued Presidential Decree No. 7 establishing the National Meat Inspection Commission whose main task is to promulgate policies and procedures governing the entire production of livestock and its product.  

    The National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) is a specialized regulatory agency in the Department of Agriculture that is the country’s sole national controlling and competent authority on all matters pertaining to meat inspection and hygiene both for locally produced and imported meat.

    The Slaughterhouse was constructed from January 8, 2019 to July 11, 2019 with the amount of Php 10,000,000.00 funded by the Department of Budget and Management through Local Government Support Fund (LGSF).

Prior to the Dry Run of the Slaughterhouse, the Department of Agriculture through National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) Region IV personnel led by Dr. Rogelio Noble, Senior Meat Control Officer together with Mr. Rudolfo Orbita, Slaughterhouse Regional Coordinator and Focal Person for Infrastructure Projects and Mr. Alemar Silviderio, Alternate Focal Person – Infrastructure Project conducted facility/equipment inspection last March 9, 2021 of the newly built “A”  Slaughterhouse of Banate.

During the dry run, swine and cow were used as demo by the “manug-ihaw” with the assistance of visitors from NMIS. It was started at exactly 9 in the morning and was attended by the above personnel from NMIS, Hon. Carlos O. Cabangal Jr. (Municipal Mayor), Sangguniang Bayan Members Hon. Carlo Louise S. Cabangal and Hon. Arnulfo J. Babe, Administrative Officer Mr. Jerry B. Bacayo and Ms. Ma. Luz M. Ferrer (Municipal Agriculturist) and staffs.
